In the midst of the summer of 2021 there is an element of doubt concerning the way Rotary can continue to facilitate the connections between people that Rotary members have valued previously. It is a fact that the principle of "hands face space" is a crucial aspect of the program however, it is evident that there is a growing confidence and a need to be face-to-face with people. Rotary has, however, changed. We are in the in the summer of 2021 and the uncertainty regarding how Rotary will be able to provide the same human connection that Rotary members had in the past continues. It is clear, however, that the hands-to-face mantra remains an integral part of the Rotary routine. The reality is that Rotary has evolved. Rotary networks help to build long-lasting friendships. Our methods have been refined to maintain online meetings in our businesses, while reintroducing services and social activities in a face-toface format. We've embraced the newest possibilities and merged these with our practices to create an exciting new direction for Rotary! In a recent Rotary survey, it was encouraging to find that 75% of clubs are organizing their activities as usual' activities" The summer months saw many of our members out and about focussing on initiatives such as river and beach cleans litter cleaning, and providing ongoing services to society from Rotary volunteer teams giving their time to support COVID vaccine and test centers.
